On 20th March 2026, a fire destroyed a warehouse facility in Pardubice, Czechia. This facility was owned by Czech arms manufacturer LPP Holding. According to their own words, LPP Holding had planned to use this site for a project with Elbit Systems, Israel's largest arms manufacturer. The police have since arrested eleven people for their alleged connection with this fire; six of them were arrested in Czechia, three in Poland, one in Slovakia, and one in Bulgaria - The CzechElbit11.
Eight of them are currently held in pre-trial detention in Czechia, many of them under harsh conditions. They can be legally held for up to 4 years without any conviction. The remaining three activists arrested in Poland spent nearly three months in jail and are for now being prosecuted at liberty.
The accused activists are being charged with two different crimes: taking part in a terrorist attack and membership in a terrorist organization. These charges carry a sentence of 12-20 years with the possibility of a life sentence
The Czech Elbit 11's lawyers are being denied complete access to the evidence against their clients. This severely impacts their ability to prepare a strong legal defense.
Other local activists are continuing to face police intimidation and harassment, with their homes being raided and their devices confiscated indefinitely. Even those who are just witnesses are being taken off the streets and their devices are being confiscated without any indication as to when they might be returned.
Repression and unjust treatment of those who oppose genocide is not new. It joins the long string of arrests and remanding of those who oppose Zionism witnessed across the world (ELSC Index of Repression, UN Special Rapporteur, FIDH report).
LPP Holding is a prominent manufacturer of drones and other weapons technologies in Central Europe. In 2023, they announced plans for opening a production and training facility in collaboration with Elbit Systems. In subsequent interview, Amir Bettesh (VP of Marketing & Business - Elbit's Unmanned Systems Division) stated that "[Elbit] chose LPP because we cooperated for years." (CzT at 41:30) This is in stark contrast to their claims following the fire that the "cooperation with Elbit Systems has never materialized" (CzT at 4:00).
Meanwhile there have been over 75,200 violent deaths of Palestinians in Gaza between 7th October 2023 and 5 January 2025 with roughly 10,000 more still trapped under rubble. A total of 172,000 people were injured with 5,000 amputations of which roughly one fifth were on children. Between 7 October 2023 and 28 March 2026, 1,073 Palestinians — at least 233 of them children — were killed in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
The Czech state's strategy is clear: to leverage this moment in order to harass, criminalise, and silence broad swaths of the Palestine solidarity movement. This is mirrored across Europe, the UK, the U.S. and all of the West, where we are consistently seeing Zionism driving state policy and police practice towards authoritarianism. While this current surge in authoritarianism may have started through the targeting of Palestine solidarity activists, as history shows us again and again, it will not end there.
We, the undersigned individuals and organizations, pledge our unwavering solidarity with the Czech Elbit 11.
This moment demands swift international opposition and solidarity across borders. We join with the CzechElbit11 and our fellow people of conscience against the use of arbitrary and undemocratic accusations of "terrorism" to silence opposition to genocide and rising authoritarianism.
As part of our ongoing demand to stop the Czech government's participation in the genocide in Palestine, we demand:
